Setting up the Inter LEA User function in IEPWriter

The Inter LEA user function is for when LEAs want to share students between other districts or private schools.  This will allow staff access to the most current documents and will also mean you don’t have to keep transferring the student when new documents are created.

Student resides in your version of IEPWriter –

  • You will need to setup an LEA relationship with the district that wants access to the student and their documents.  Do this by going to My District – LEA Relationships.  (screenshot below)  You would choose the district and press the Create LEA Relationship button.
  • The other district will need to go to each staff person that wants access to their student or students and give those users the global role of Inter LEA User.  Do this by going to Staff then choosing to edit the specific staff member and then choosing the user account tab. (screenshot below)
  • You can then roster those staff members to their students.  When looking at available staff the Inter LEA Users will have a "#" next to them to indicate they are an Inter LEA User and not one of your staff members.
  • When the other district staff then login they will now have whatever roster access you have given them to their students.

New Server Environment

In August, we migrated IEPWriter to a new environment.  We entirely upgraded our hosting environment to blade servers from Dell with a solid state drive (SSD) storage area network (SAN).  We also upgraded our databases to the latest version of SQL Server.  What does this mean to you?  This first of all means better performance and security for the system.  It also allows greater expansion for storage and for future technology.

In Closing…

We look forward to seeing everybody again in the fall and showing some of our ideas for enhancements and hearing yours.  Aside from state changes, all other changes to IEPWriter come from the Fall Focus Group meetings.
