Welcome to the new issue of IEPWriter Direct! Here's what's going on with IEPWriter.com:
Focus Group Meetings - Save the Date!
We've set the dates for our Spring Focus Group Meetings and wanted to get them out to everybody so you can arrange your schedules accordingly. In the coming months we will be sending out the official notice and the registration link for the meetings. The spring meetings will allow you to get a first look at the updates that will be released next July and to comment on them in case we need to make any last minute changes.
All meetings will have registration from 9:30 - 10 a.m., with the meeting from 10 a.m. - 12 noon. As always, we will be available afterwards to address any specific questions you might have.

STaR (Service Tracking and Reporting) module update
The STaR (Service Tracking and Reporting) module will begin public beta on December 17.
As stated in previous meetings, STaR will allow schools to create exports for billing in PCG's formats. We hope this will make the process easier for everybody that uses IEPWriter.
We will be sending out announcements regarding training webinars on the STaR module. If you would like to setup a training session at your IU, please get in touch with Lewie Astorino.
Custom Rosters update
One request that emerged from the fall Focus Group meetings was to add a search function to Custom Rosters to make it easier to locate reports. This feature has been added; when you navigate to the Custom Rosters section, you will now see a search capability on Report Name. We appreciate the suggestion and were happy to make the system a little easier for our users
Student Demographics
There is a new button on the Student Demographics screen to create a print-friendly version of the demographics for the student. Click the printer icon near the top of the page and a new window will pop-up with the print-friendly view.
Browsers and slowness
While investigating reports of slowness at a client site, we found outdated web browsers as one area of concern. We would like to remind everyone to keep up to date with web browser updates. New versions of web browsers often increase both performance and security, so it’s helpful to keep up to date.
- Firefox users: In Firefox, click Help > About Firefox (if you're on a Mac, click Firefox > About Firefox).
- Internet Explorer users: Run Windows Update to get the latest version. We support both IE8 and IE9.
- Safari users: Click the Apple icon in the upper right of your screen and then click Software Updates.
- Or go to browsehappy.com to grab the latest versions of popular browsers.
Be sure to check with your school's Information Technology staff to make sure they're OK with you updating your browsers!
Some other tips to improve performance and reliability:
- Close your web browser periodically (on a Macintosh, it's important to click the browser name on your top menu and then click Quit [e.g., Firefox > Quit] as opposed to simply closing the window).
- Once a week, empty your browser's cache (a local folder where it saves copies of web pages).
In closing...
Lewie and the whole IEPWriter team would like to wish everybody a safe and happy holiday season!
