American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009: Part B IDEA Funds
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) can be an important funding resource for schools in the months ahead. These one-time funds can help improve results for all students, including those with disabilities.
On Sept. 3, 2009, the U.S. Department of Education released a Uses of Funds Guidance document entitled American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009: Using ARRA Funds Provided Through
Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to Drive School Reform
and Improvement:
Page 37 of this document, under the heading Web-Based IEPs, lists the following potential strategy:
"Use IDEA Part B ARRA funds to support the development and implementation of a Web-based
IEP tool for students with disabilities that will result in IEPs that comply with the requirements of IDEA, support alignment of IEP goals and objectives with State academic achievement and grade-level content standards, and facilitate the transfer of the
student’s IEP between schools or jurisdictions."
Schools faced with shrinking budgets due to current economic constraints may look to ARRA funds to help implement IEPWriter.com and meet their data management needs. Learn more about IEPWriter.com and contact a Leader representative with any questions.
